Jump Rope For Heart

Today is a very special day as we've not only combined the Super Saturday post with some awesome Guests, but we have a very special fundraiser going on too!  Barbara's daughters, Cassandra and Lydia, are participating in a "Jump Rope for Heart" activity at their school where kids learn jump rope skills and raise money for the American Heart Association.

Learning about a healthy heart at school really hit home for her girls, especially when it came with a connection to a few close family members.  For example, their cousin Ryker had open heart surgery when he was only 6-months-old!  He is now a teen and doing great!  He loves many activities including photography and was the inspiration for a new image Barbara has drawn for today... meet Polka Dot Pals Ryker.

This image is available in the Little Miss Muffet Stamp store but the best part about him is you can also help Barbara's daughters in their fundraiser!  How, you might ask?  There are two ways!  First, for every PDP Ryker purchase, LMMS will donate $2.00 to Cassandra and Lydia's fundraiser!  Secondly, you can also donate directly on the American Heart Association website to their individual fundraiser page by visiting these links:  Cassandra's Donation Page and Lydia's Donation Page.

But wait, there's more!  That's not the only image you'll get in the package - there are two other very special images.  Those two were drawn and colored by Cassandra and Lydia themselves!  They've entered their artwork into the T-shirt Design Contest for next year's Jump Rope for Heart.  Maybe they'll win, maybe they won't, but the fun was in creating and now you can create with them too!  Both colored and uncolored versions are included.

Thank you for being a part of this fundraiser and we hope you can take action to have a healthy heart even if it isn't via jump rope.  Spread the word and share your creations online in the current LMMS Challenge and/or in the FaceBook LMMS Group too!  Looking for other activity based stamps to play with this weekend?  Then you might also enjoy these other Little Miss Muffet Stamps that feature heart healthy activities such as bicycling, sports, winter fun, playing and even house cleaning!  Oh yeah!
Sonny Honeycloud TomboySSD Anise ComboSSD Pepper and SS My Ride,

I loved the images the girls drew and the new digi stamp Polka Dot Pals Ryker so I used all of their images and made 3 cards with them.  I hope you can support this heart healthy cause!

Make It Crafty Sitting Jane

Hi Everyone!
The image I am sharing tonight is the very first image I ever purchased from Make It Crafty in 2011.  Her name is Sitting Jane.  Here is the card I made with her then.
Here is the card I have made with her now.
The first image was colored with Copics and prismacolor pencils.  The second image was colored with prismacolor pencils only.  It's funny that I used similar colors on her as I did years ago.  I like to think my coloring has improved since then.  I hope you would agree.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Make It Crafty and Little Miss Muffet Stamps

Hello friends!  Today I have a card to share with you using Tulip Garden rubber stamp by Make it Crafty and Fancy Sunbonnet Miss Muffet rubber stamp by Little Miss Muffet Stamps.  I stamped Fancy Sunbonnet with Desert Sand Memento Ink.  I stamped it again on scrap paper to create a mask.  Then I used the same ink to stamp the Tulip Garden over my masked image.

I used Copics to color the image and a white pigment ink with sponge  for the clouds.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Make it Crafty DT Inspiration Dollar Digi

Hi friends!  I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday.  I have a beef roast in the oven and I just made some home-made mushroom gravy.  Just waiting for the potatoes and carrots to finish cooking.  While that finishes I thought I would share a couple of cards with you this evening.  All images are from the Make it Crafty Store.

This darling girl is Tress, Joyful digital stamp, one of the new MiC digital stamps.  The background is a pre-made background digital stamp called Rosey Walk.  It normally sells for $4.50 but you may purchase Rosey Walk for $1.00 if you join the private FB group and ask for the special code to use in the store.

Now let me tell you one of the things I love about this MiC FB group.  If you want advice all you have to do is ask for it.  They have some of the very best color artists in that group.

So this is the question I asked.
I tend to like bright bold colors. Does this look okay or are the colors too intense? Also how are my shadows doing? Thanks for any input.

This is the response I received:
oe Mitc OK... so here's my thoughts.
I think it's OK to go with bold colours, but you need to have more light areas to help make those bold colours pop. If everything is at the same 'level' in boldness then it can begin to look flat.

If for example you got a white opaque pen and added some highlights to this image, it would immediately lift it and help bring it to life.

If you look at it now, the one thing that pops off the page are her eyes! They are glaring at you because they are the only thing that is light.

Whereas if you added some highlights to the leaves on the fence, the rocks, flowers in the tree etc, it would give the whole image a little more life.

With that said - the shading is great and the colours are good. You just need more practise getting a lighter colour in to give everything a highlight.

Oh and I love the detail in her pants!

So here is what I did after taking her advice.  It makes a difference, don't you think?

Here is another image I colored, this time leaving white while coloring and not adding it in after with a white gel pen.  I did use the gel pen on the ladybug and magnifier, just a little.

Again I used the dollar digi for the month of January, Rosey Walk.  The other image is Pippy Bug Catcher.    So if you like to color and would like to get feedback you may ask to join the group here.  Enjoy the rest of your evening.  I am going to enjoy the roast beef on this cold winter night, with my family.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you didn't mind the lengthy post.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Here is the sketch.

Make It Crafty FB DT Inspiration

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing a card I made for the Make it Colourful Challenge #5.  The easy challenge is to use yellow and blue and the hard challenge is to do sunrays or water.  I used 2 new images, Tress Winking and Sleepy Hollow.

I used Prismacolor Colored pencils to color my images.  It is fun to switch it up sometimes.  I have to say, I do like the intense colors I can get with my Copics, but I think this is okay too.  I just need to find the right paper for pencils, and I don't think this paper was the right fit.  I will keep practicing, but I think my next image will be colored with Copics.  Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice
