Vintage Style

Hello everyone!  Today my card features the CottageCutz Elegant Purses Die and the CottageCutz Pumps mini die as the focal image.  I cut the purse from patterned paper and inked the edges with distress ink, Vintage Photo by Tim Holtz.  I cut the pumps from white cardstock and colored them with Copics.  They were also distressed slightly with Vintage Photo distress ink.
The doily is the CottageCutz Scalloped Doily.  I added some vintage style lace and a crocheted flower to finish the card.  I added distress ink to the lace and crocheted flower as well.  Enjoy the day!

Potatoheads!!

I am having too much fun with my "Potatoheads"!  Here is another card I made with PK-163 Veggie Sentiments One and PK-272 Faceless Veggies Three.  I used a spotlighting technique, where you highlight an object within a grouping.  Not the best image to use this technique, but I think I captured what I was trying to.  Tell me what you think, or how you might have done it.  I would love your in put.  As always I am thankful for you and appreciate your comments so much!
Happy Stamping!

Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge 13-3

Hello Peachy friends!  This weeks challenge is all about bears and 3-D.  I decided to try something that I nave never made before.  It is called a Magic Box or Exploding box.  I found my inspiration here and here.  Doesn't she make such beautiful boxes?  Maybe you will be inspired to try it yourself.  Here is mine.
I used PK-158 Get Well Bear.  I stamped two bears onto patterned paper and added more color with Copics, then cut them out.  I used one on the front and back of the box, on the outside.
For the inside I used the bees from set PK-279 Faceless Bugs.  The honey pot is retired and the peeking bear is from PKSC-13 January 2013.
The leaves were cut from a sizzix die and I fussy cut the daisies from a piece of printed paper.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.  I hope you will join in with us for this weeks Peachy Challenge!

Janice

I Only Have Eyes For You

Here is a quick post I wanted to share with you.  I used the new sentiment stamps, PK-163 Veggie Sentiments One paired with the PK-272 Faceless Veggies Three.  I stamped the potato onto a solid rubber stamp and then pressed that stamp to my paper.  This technique is called reverse stamping.  I have demonstrated this technique in the past by stamping the image onto an acrylic block and pressing my paper to the block.  That works okay but usually needs to be traced for a stronger image.
I used the potato "eyes" for the arms and her hair.  The faces are from PKSC-08 August 2012 set.  The bow tie with buttons is from PK-318 Penguin Doll Set.  I love to think of different ways to use my stamps.  Hope you like it.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Vintage Bathroom

Hello friends!  Janice here to share an 8x8 layout or wall hanging.  This would be so cute hanging in a bathroom or used for a layout for a bride or prom girl getting ready for the special occasion.  I used dies from the latest Vintage Release.  These are all so pretty and feminine.  I used CottageCutz Vintage Bath and CottageCutz Shabby Chic Powder Room.  I used white cardstock and metalliic cardstock to cut the pieces.  I used Copic E-40, Brick White on the tub, sink and towel.  I used B00 Frost Blue on the mirror.  The background paper is from DCWV Linen Closet.  The shower curtain is from a remnant purchased from JoAnn's.
Thanks so much for stopping by.  I will be back on the 27th with more vintage projects.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Adding Color to Paper Piecing

Hi everyone!  Janice here with my first post as a returning PK alumni designer.  I am so HAPPY to be back, I can't even tell you!  I just wanted to share some tips with you about adding color to your paper pieced images.  I have a very short video if you would like to watch.

It just shows a comparison of a paper pieced bear with and without added color.  Even if you are not comfortable adding color you should at least flick the edges with distress ink.  Even that small step can really make a difference.  I used the new bear stamp from the January Stamp of the Month Club, PKSC-13.

Here is my completed card.  Notice that I added a pattern to the floor to create more dimension.
I made the bed by cutting 2white posts about 1/2 inch wide, one shorter than the other and punching (2) 1/2 inch circles.  The mattress was was cut from patterned paper as well as the pillow.  The pillow is approximately 1/2 inch by 1and 1/2 inch with 2 of the corners rounded.  The bed skirt is a piece of elasticized yellow gingham ribbon.

The bedroom wall decor was made using PK-158 Get Well Bear.  The image was stamped onto shrink plastic, colored with Prismacolor pencils, cut out, and heated with a heat gun to shrink it.  I drew the blanket for the sleepy bear and added some shadows on the wall from the bed to create depth.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Janice

Peachy Challenge 13-2

Hello Peachy fans.  I have a card to share with you that uses the candy stamps from  PKSC-13 Peachy Keen Stamp Club, January 2013.  This is for the Peachy Challenge, 13-2.  Here is the sketch.

And here is my card.
I stamped the images onto white cardstock and colored them with Copics.  I stamped the candy swirl and squiggle onto the square and circle.  I used a white gel pen to add sprinkles to the heart.  I then put crystal effects onto the candy, though it is hard to see in the photo.  The Love heart is the lollipop stamp from the kit as is the sentiment.  The finished card size is 3 and 1/2 x 7".  Thanks for having a look.  I hope you will join in the challenge too!

Janice

Thank You!

Hello CottageCutz fans!  Today I have a Thank You card to share with you using the CottagCutz Elf and Snowman Tag Set die.  I used some of my favorite elements, bold, bright colors, gingham, and who doesn't love a snowman!  I cut the images 3 times with white cardstock, colored the pieces for the snowman heads and then put them together.  I find it easier to color the pieces before assembling, but that is my personal preference.  So here is my card.
The large Thank You sentiment is from Peachy Keen Stamps.  I love the font and the size!   The finished card size is 5"x7".  Have a great week!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

How about a Panda Bear?

Here is another bear to share with you.  This time I made a Panda.  I masked the Panda so I could stamp the bamboo background.  I used PKSC-05 to stamp the Asian lantern onto paper from The Far East Stack (DCWV).
I used Copics and a white gel pen to color my image.  The floor was colored with shades of grey dots.  Reminds me of shag carpet.  Thanks for stopping by again and be sure and join us for the January release party tomorrow at 6 central time at the Peachy Keen Connection.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Hello Peachy fans!  Welcome to day 2 of sneak peeks.  If you haven't seen day one you may check them out here!  This is probably my favorite release so far, of course I have said that before.  I don't know how Kathy keeps coming up with these adorable stamps, but I am so happy she does!  Be sure and stop by all week and join us for the January release party Saturday, January 5 at 6pm (CST) all happening on the Peachy Keen Connection.  Now here is the first of my peeks.  I have been having so much fun with these bears!  We all have, so please check out the other designers blogs as well.  I used one of the add on sets to create my card.
I have been practicing coloring the "fur" with my copics.  Thanks for dropping by and I hope you come back tomorrow to see some more furry cuteness!  Have a great night!

Janice
